![]() Moisture Curing? So when do I add a light coat of water? Moisture is the key to curing HoneyDoo Glue (powerbond). When fastening together materials that already have a high moisture content to them such as wood, there is no need to apply a light coat of moisture to one surface. HoneyDoo is designed to draw the moisture from the materials being bonded as well as from the existing moisture in the air to allow it to cure. We recommend adding a light coat of water when bonding items with little to no moisture in them such as metals. Large Surface Areas Adding a light coat of water from a damp cloth or spray bottle is also recommended when bonding large surface areas. This will allow moisture to cure the inner areas of the surfaces which will have little access to moisture collection from the outside air. | Great for:
HoneyDoo Glue was designed as a high strength, moisture curing polyurethane adhesive. HoneyDoo Glue bonds to a variety of materials with a 15% increase in bond strength over competitive polyurethane products. The strength of HoneyDoo Glue is not only a result of its unique polyurethane formulation. HoneyDoo Glue is triple distilled for purification and stability that adds to its increased strength as well as offers a longer shelf life after first use. Products Sizes:
How to Apply: Simply apply an optional light coat of water to one surface using a damp cloth of spray bottle (see moisture note to the left). Apply HoneyDoo Glue to your other surface and mate the 2 surfaces together. Allow 2 to 3 hours to cure (24 hours recommended for a full cure) and you will be amazed at the results. Remember: Sometimes less is best. Spreading out the HoneyDoo Glue while uncured or placing down beads of glue and allowing the glue to spread when mating the surfaces will provide you with the best bonding results. |
Reduce Foaming! Have you ever had another brand of polyurethane begin to foam or expand when curing?
Foaming and expansion is a function of either overapplying glue to your surface or allowing too much moisture to be introduced when curing. Part of the formulation of HoneyDoo Glue is designed to reduce foaming and expansion. However, determining when to manually apply moisture to your material surface OR just allowing moisture to collect from the surrounding air as well as drawing natural moisture contained in the materials you are working with (eg. wood) is best to determine beforehand. This along with applying either beads or thin layers of HoneyDoo Glue on your application surface (not overapplying) is the key to minimizing foaming and expansion when using. Determining your method of applying HoneyDoo Glue beforehand will lead to the best results!
